Meta Ads vs. Google Ads — Which Is Right for Your GCC Business?

This is the question I get asked most often. And the honest answer frustrates people: there is no single answer. Both platforms serve different needs. But there is a logical framework that tells you where to start — or how to combine both.

The Fundamental Difference

Meta (Facebook/Instagram): Creates demand. People weren't looking for your product — you show it to them and convince them they need it. You target by who they are, not what they're searching for.

Google Ads: Captures existing demand. People are actively searching for what you sell right now. You appear at the exact moment they're ready to buy.

When to Start With Meta

  • Your product needs to be seen to be wanted (food, fashion, beauty, experiences)
  • Your audience can be defined by demographics and interests
  • Your budget allows creative testing (minimum KD 150+/month for real data)
  • Your product has strong visual appeal — video or photos that naturally draw attention

When to Start With Google

  • Your service is actively searched (lawyer, plumber, pharmacy)
  • E-commerce with well-known product names
  • B2B audience searching for specific solutions
  • Your product has a clear name people search for

The Optimal Strategy: Combine Both

The best results I've seen in the GCC come from this combination:

  • Meta to create awareness and generate demand
  • Google Brand Search to capture those who saw your Meta ad and searched for you
  • Google Remarketing to re-engage Meta-driven site visitors
For Small Budgets (< KD 200/month)

Start with one platform and master it. Choose Meta for visual products, Google for searched-for services. Don't split a small budget between both.

"The question isn't Meta or Google. The question is: where is your customer right now in their buying journey?"
